Brand Strategy
Throughout his long life, from hardscrabble Oklahoma in the early 1900s to the modern art circles in New York City, Leon Polk Smith was an uncontainable force. His work is known for its vibrant colors, brilliant geometric shapes, and canvases that defy the traditional confines of the medium. We tried to capture those qualities with a bold, unapologetic yet minimal identity design that lends itself to going outside the box – outside the frame.
A Growing Presence
Since we first started working with the foundation a decade ago, Leon Polk Smith's recognition has continued to rise. His works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, and many more renowned institutions. The website has evolved over the years to serve as a digital archive of Smith's work, a resource for researchers and academics, and a central hub for the Foundation to promote the art and legacy of this truly inspiring artist.
